As a soloist and chamber musician, accordionist Nikola Djorić has performed on renowned concert stages, including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Cologne Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gasteig Munich and Beethovenfest Bonn.
Through the accordion’s tonal range, he explores previously unfamiliar colours in repertoire from Bach and Mozart to Tchaikovsky that was not originally written for the instrument. Rather than creating arrangements, he remains faithful to the original score.
Championing contemporary accordion repertoire is an important part of his artistic work. Nikola Djorić performs works by composers including Gabriele Proy, Armin Sanayei, Margareta Ferek-Petrić, Gerd-Hermann Ortler, Mathias Schmidhammer, Akos Banlaky, Alexander Chernyshikov and Lukas Neudinger.
A highlight of his collaboration with Gabriele Proy is Auxin, a concerto for accordion and orchestra dedicated to him and premiered in 2025. Composer Johanna Doderer also dedicated an accordion concerto to him: Ozean.
Chamber music holds an important place in Nikola Djorić’s work. With cellist Valentin Erben, a member of the Alban Berg Quartet, he founded Duo Ex-Aequo. With baritone Bo Skovhus, he created distinctive interpretations of Schubert’s Winterreise and Die schöne Müllerin.
Together with guitarist Ivana Djorić, he brings together masterpieces of the classical guitar and the accordion.
Nikola Djorić brings literature and music together in collaborations with writers and actors including Dörte Lyssevski, Ernst Haupt-Stummer, Otto Brusatti, Sylvie Rohrer, Nadja Kayali and Markus Meyer.
His CD released in 2021 with the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester in Mannheim features Johann Sebastian Bach’s harpsichord concertos and Astor Piazzolla’s bandoneon concerto. Further projects and recordings have been produced in collaboration with Berlin Classics and NO-TE Produktion.
